CDC, FDA Recommending Pause Of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

The CDC and FDA are recommending a pause on the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. That news comes after six reported cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot forming in individuals who have received the vaccine in the United States.

As of Monday, there have been more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine administered in the US, so this issue is considered an extremely rare occurrence. However, the CDC and FDA are taking an "abundance of caution" with the situation.

 

According to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, there isn't any reason to be alarmed. As was pointed out in the above tweets, this is out of an abundance of caution. The state of Florida will heed the recommendations made by the federal government.

"I don't think people should be freaking out," DeSantis said, via the Orlando Sentinel. "I think what they're doing is out of an abundance of caution. I don't think people should be worried who have already had it, who haven't had any effects. I think it's likely going to be very effective for you. But given that they're doing it, we feel that's the appropriate thing to do."
