Yankees Fan Properly Reacts To Red Sox Homer By Tossing It Back

New York Yankees fans have been tormented by Boston Red Sox's Rafael Devers. The Red Sox third baseman made the Bronx faithful groan Saturday after hitting a homer off Gerrit Cole and following it with an egregious bat flip. Cole and the Yankees had the last laugh with a 14-4 rout.

On Sunday, Devers was back to being a thorn in the Yankees' side, hitting a solo, go-ahead home run. Devers broke the scoreless run through seven innings during Sunday night's primetime matchup between longtime AL East rivals.

A Yankees fan was on the receiving end of Devers' home run to left field. He responded to Devers' shining moment like a proper rival fan — tossing the ball back on the field with a vengeance.

The Yankees and Red Sox's Game 3 was dominated by solid pitching from a rebounding Luis Gil for New York and an efficient outing by Kutter Crawford for Boston. Crawford pitched six scoreless innings on 54 pitches, tallying 44 strikes.

Despite Saturday's huge win, the Bronx Bombers want to build more momentum coming off a miserable June for Yankees baseball. The Yankees went 14-13 in June. New York took a big step back after becoming MLB's first team to reach 50 wins this season.

Sunday's scene with Devers and the Yankees fan was reminiscent of a Dodgers homestand in April against the San Diego Padres where one LA caught a home run by the loathed Manny Machado. The Dodgers fan pulled a switcheroo — swapping the home run ball with a backup ball — and tossed the ball back onto the field. The fan was caught on the Sunday night broadcast switching the ball and having to come clean on his righteous fan moment.
