WWE Will Include Muhammad Ali In Its Upcoming Hall-of-Fame Class

Muhammad Ali may have been a boxer, but he will be inducted into the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Class for his contributions to the sport.

On April 5th in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA, the man known as "The Louisville Slugger" will be posthumously enshrined among the greats of the sport. His widow, Lonnie, will receive the honor in his stead. Joining the boxing legend will join fellow inductees Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano, and the tag team the U.S. Express (which included Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham).

The man who floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee in the boxing ring did his fair share to help promote the WWE as well. During the first WrestleMania event in history in 1985, Ali served as the guest referee for a tag team match, which pitted Hulk Hogan and Mr. T versus "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff.

This wasn’t the only time the boxing legend ventured into the wrestling world. Ali not only served as a mediator for a match, he participated in one himself 10 years earlier.

In 1976, Ali ventured to Japan to take on renowned Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki in a fight that became known as "The War of the Worlds." 14,500 fans crowded into the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan, to watch a 15-round exhibition match between the two combatants (it ended in a draw).

Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74, after winning three heavyweight titles in his career. He is widely considered to be the best boxer of all-time.
