WWE, NHL Tag-Teaming For Stanley Cup Championship Belt
The Stanley Cup is arguably the most famous trophy in sports. There's nothing quite like hosting the Cup.
Then, on top of the Cup itself, you get a ring too. What more could you possibly need?
The answer, of course, is a WWE championship belt.
The National Hockey League and the WWE are joining forces to church out championship belts for this year's Stanley Cup Final and fans of either the Edmonton Oilers or the Florida Panthers will have the opportunity to buy one.
According to a WWE press release, this is the first licensed NHL product that the WWE will release.
If and when the Philadelphia Flyers win their first Stanley Cup in fifty years, buying a championship belt like this would not only be on the to-do list, it would probably be one of the less extreme things on said list.
I would carry that thing around everywhere. If had one of those belts I'd be wearing it right now.
I'd strut into the grocery store with that bad boy slung over my shoulder.
I'd be getting my hair cut, and the barber would be like, "Do you mind moving your really sweet championship belt so I can trim your sideburns?" And I'd be like, "No, the belt stays; please do your best to work around it."
I'd end up with a terrible haircut, but I'd have a Stanley Cup championship belt, so I'd consider that a win.
The Stanley Cup Final gets underway on Saturday, so it won't be too much longer before we know which team's fanbase will have the privilege of buying a championship belt for something that they weren't even a participant in.
Whether it ends up being held in Edmonton or South Florida, I hope to see a bunch of these puppies along the Stanley Cup parade route.
