Wisconsin QB Stars In Painfully Cringe NIL Ad: VIDEO

Wisconsin QB Mabrey Mettauer might want to sharpen up his acting skills.

Mettauer is viewed by many Wisconsin fans as the QB of the future in Madison after enrolling early following a successful prep career in Texas.

He's already packed on a significant amount of weight since arriving on campus, and while he won't start this season, expectations for the young man are incredibly high.

Just don't expect to see him land any Oscars for his acting abilities.

Mabrey Mettauer stars in Sprecher Root Beer ad.

The talented QB dropped an NIL ad with the popular root beer brand Sprecher, and dropped one of the craziest lines I've ever heard in an ad.

"I just got to CVS. Let's go get the bev," Mettauer says before grabbing what appears to be a four-pack of the low calorie root beer.

Who in their right mind calls any drink "the bev"? Am I just an old man out of the loop? Who would even call it a beverage?

I digress. Watch the ad below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

It's a good thing Mabrey Mettauer knows how to throw a football, but he's certainly not going to be the next Vincent Chase. It's hard to put my finger on it, but this entire ad was just off. It just didn't feel real.

I'm supposed to believe an elite athlete and premier QB prospect is drinking root beer in order to stay hydrated and refreshed? If that's the case, then I suggest Luke Fickell have a long hard talk with the dietitians within the football program.

Having said all that, I'm glad to see the young man is getting his money. He chose Wisconsin over several other major programs who wanted his services. In the NIL era, programs have to make sure top recruits and players get paid. If that means he has to star in a cringe Sprecher Root Beer ad, then so be it. Let's just not pretend like it's his strength. Let me know if you agree at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
