Wisconsin Badgers Make Common Sense Alcohol Decision (Pray For My Wallet)
Wisconsin fans attending the game against Alabama at Camp Randall will now be able to do it while crushing cold beer.
The University of Wisconsin administration has long been a notable holdout that didn't allow selling alcohol at football games.
It's never made sense. Wisconsin is a state full of people who love to drink. It's one of the best spots in America for beer and food. It has a massive drinking culture, and yet, the school has long refused to bend the knee and sling some beers at Camp Randall.
That era is officially over. The wall holding the line against the common man has fallen.
Wisconsin announces beer sales at Camp Randall.
The school announced Monday that the general seating area of Camp Randall will have alcohol sales this season.
Sales were already allowed at the Kohl Center, and it cost around $10 for a 16 ounce Miller Lite last season. Those bad boys are going to add up real fast.
I can almost taste them already.
I can't tell you all how big of a deal this is going to be for Wisconsin fans. I am okay to admit it. A ton of Wisconsin fans probably drink more than we should, but hey, that's just the way it is when you grow up in our cold, isolated and dark winters.
We love the Badgers and we love beer. It's in our DNA, and yet, the administration refused to get with the times for years. Beer sales are popular at college football stadiums across America. Of all the places you'd think they'd sell cold beer, Camp Randall should have been at the top of the list. It never made sense that Wisconsin refused to open alcohol sales across the stadium.
Now, that barrier has fallen and fell just in time for the Sept. 14 matchup against Alabama. I've already committed almost $5,000 to attend. At this point, the financial bleeding might as well continue. You're crazy if you think I'm not cracking them open all game long. Will it be painful to check the credit card statement in the morning? Sure, but beating Alabama will make it all worth it.
Fun quick story about Wisconsin fans loving beer. I was at the Badgers game against Maryland in College Park in 2015 right when the Terrapins started selling beer. Easily more than half of the stadium was Wisconsin fans, and people were getting *HAMMERED.* Multiple vendors said they'd never seen people buy so much beer and stations were running completely dry. That's the vibe and energy I expect to see against Alabama and the rest of the season. This is a great day for America, Wisconsin and freedom! Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
