WATCH: Louisiana High Schooler Sets Squat Record With 900-Pound Rep
18-year-old Dwayne Coleman can lift an absurd amount of weight.
On Saturday, the senior from Salmen High School set the Louisiana state record for the heaviest squat at the LHSAA state championships. Coleman himself weighs 462 pounds and plays defensive tackle for his high school’s football team, so you know that this guy has the potential to move a ton of matter.
But how much would you guess he squatted? 600 pounds?
Nope, more.
700? Keep going.
800? Close, but no cigar for you.
Coleman squatted 900 pounds to set the record for all high schoolers in the history of The Pelican State. He posted a video of his life on his personal Instagram, and it's as insane as you’d expect.
That looks too easy for him! The hype from the official was fantastic too.
For perspective on how much weight this is (as if we needed any extra), this was the equivalent of putting an adult male polar bear on his shoulders. That’s pretty wild.
Mind you, this rep came after he set the state records with an 845 and 875-pound rep, respectively. The 900-pound one was just a bonus attempt for crushing his own previous record.
In addition to setting a state record in the squat event, he bench pressed 500 pounds (another state record) and deadlifted 630 pounds.
All in a day's work for Coleman I guess!
In total, he became the record holder (we’ve said that a lot, haven’t we?) for the highest combined weight from multiple events with 2,005 pounds.
Shockingly, his total was only good enough to get Salmen to a 10th place finish in the team event. But I think Coleman definitely pulled his own weight at this meet (pun intended), and then some.
