Virginia And Tony Bennett Humiliated In NCAA Tournament, Prove The Team Didn't Belong
Virginia and Tony Bennett were lit up in truly stunning fashion Tuesday night by Colorado State.
The Cavaliers snuck into the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed in a play-in game, and took the spot of more deserving teams, such as Indiana State and some Big East squads.
There was a serious fraud alert for UVA and Bennett going into the tournament and for millions of fans breaking down bracket scenarios.
Well, it turns out those arguing UVA had no business being in the NCAA Tournament were 100% correct because the Rams kicked their teeth in 67-42.
Colorado State hammers Virginia.
Not only did CSU win 67-42, but the stats from the game are truly shocking. Virginia had 14 points in the first half and 28 in the second half. Colorado State scored 40 points in the second half alone.
The stats only get worse from there. Let's break them down:
- Virginia's leading scorer - Reece Beekman - scored only 15 points.
- No other player was in double digits.
- UVA went 3-17 from three and 14-56 from the field overall.
- Colorado State out-rebounded the Cavaliers 43-24.
- UVA let CSU shoot a very solid 55.3% from the field.
It wasn't just an embarrassing performance for Virginia. It was downright humiliating, and plenty were quick to mock the Cavaliers.
Shoutout to the selection committee for giving fans one of the worst games in recent memory. Instead of putting in teams that belonged there - Indiana State! - viewers had to endure a trash UVA performance. Completely unacceptable. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com if you agree.
