The ULM Warhawks will be rocking some awesome helmets this season.
The Warhawks athletic department has integrated the famous WWII P-40 fighter plane into its uniforms for different sports, and the 2024 helmets are absolute fire.
Check out the design inspired by the WWII plane below. It's the definition of patriotic and awesome.
ULM Warhawks unveil football helmets honoring the P-40 fighter plane.
The Warhawks motivation for having ties to the P-40 is pretty simple. Legendary WWII hero Maj. Gen. Claire Lee Chennault grew up in Louisiana and was responsible for forming the "Flying Tigers" - a group of volunteer pilots who fought the Japanese in China.
Their plane of choice? The P-40. The plane was an unbelievably important tool in the fight to free the world from the Axis Powers, and was in service with far more than just the USA.
Australia, Britain, China and the Soviet Union also utilized the legendary aircraft.
Now, the Warhakws will honor the critical WWII asset throughout the 2024 football season. It's simply a really cool decision.
There definitely seems to have been a bit of a vibe shift recently in America. It's finally starting to be cool again to be patriotic and love the USA.
I certainly love America, and won't ever apologize for it. You should absolutely take any opportunity you get to show pride in the red, white and blue, and that's what the Warhawks are doing with helmets honoring the P-40 and the men who flew them back in WWII.
