Tyson Fury Headed To The Octagon
Tyson Fury confirmed that he is set to fight UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in the octagon in a "stand-up bang out."
He first has to deal with heavyweight boxing rivals Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua, the Daily Star reports.
The boxer previously hinted that he would be interested in a crossover contest after retiring from boxing. The current WBC heavyweight champion went as far as training with UFC middleweight star Darren Till and MMA legend Nick Diaz, the article states.
Fury confirmed in a recent interview with talkSPORT that he no longer had any interest in competing in MMA but would be open to fighting in a cage with the lighter 4oz MMA gloves.
“No, I’ve got no real interest in grappling up and down on the floor and all that sort of stuff," Fury said. “I’m a stand-up fighting man, I don’t wrestle up and down and grab each other’s arms and sit on each other and all that."
Fury confirmed he will fight Ngannou once he has defeated Wilder and Joshua.
The Daily Star reports that the Gypsy King is still training with former UFC title challenger Diaz, who is also set to return to the octagon in the near future and believes he will have the edge in a "stand-up bang-out" against Ngannou.
