Tyreek Hill Wants To Box Jake Paul, Says Paul Isn't That Tough
Several former NFL players have ventured into combat sports following their football careers. Adrian Peterson and Le'Veon Bell both tried boxing, with Bell still "trying" to box. What about a current NFL player? Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill wants to try his hand and has his opponent in mind: Jake Paul.
During an episode of the "Full Tilted" podcast, Hill said he wants to meet UFC president Dana White.
"I want to get in the cage," Hill said before adding: "I want to get in the cage, or I want to box."
The host, Bob Menery, asks if Hill has any opponents in mind.
"I think my first fight needs to be [against] Jake Paul," the receiver responds.
"Is he as tough as he looks?" Menery asks.
"I don't think so," Hill quickly replies. "I grew up boxing."
It seems unlikely the Miami Dolphins would support their $120 million wide receiver taking a boxing match during the off-season, but there's no question the fight would draw a ton of interest.
Jake Paul fights typically see big numbers, even when he fights lesser-known opponents. A match against a star NFL player like Tyreek Hill? That would be quite the spectacle.
It's not hard to imagine that Tyreek Hill would be a good boxer. He's extremely quick and has great feet. For a guy his size, he could probably get up-to-speed very quickly.
Still, I'm not sure that I would discount Paul's ability to compete in that fight. He's been training and fighting at a much higher level than Hill, even if the latter says he "grew up boxing."
A lot of people don't understand just how much goes into boxing. As someone who picked up the sport over the past year and has been training, trust me when I say: it's a lot harder than it looks.
