Two Minor-League Baseball Teams Brawl It Out

You'd think a bunch of minor leaguers would be thrilled that MLB just brought them back, but apparently not. The Single-A Fort Wayne Tin Caps and the South Bend Cubs decided to brawl it out on Tuesday night.

Who said baseball players just stand around pushing and shoving? As you can see, No. 4 in red was throwing haymakers early on, thankfully, to no avail. And being honest, that pitch wasn't even THAT inside. Looks like the hitter is standing about a nose hair away from home plate anyway, so maybe the rain had him in a froggy mood?

We also have to keep in mind that baseball fighting can't operate like hockey for a multitude of reasons. For one, baseball players don't respect the "one-on-one" luxury that NHL players rely on. Want to throw down with a punk on the other side? Well, expect 20 of his teammates to jump on your back like a girl at a frat party.

And for two, after a couple players were tossed to the ground, players really started throwing blows. As a former athlete who's been in a few scuffles of my own, I can tell you that's not the spot to be. You can be punched, kicked with spikes, and what's worse is that you have no clue when anything's coming. Just a total free-for-all down there.

Aftermath

The brawl ended with both the catcher and hitter being ejected along with Tin Caps manager Michael Ryan, according to CBS. Southbound, however, would storm back (no pun intended) from down 7-0 and win this game 12-10.
