Two Kansas City Chiefs Players Arrested For Pot Possession
Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackles Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested Thursday night for marijuana possession. The two players were booked in a Johnson County, Kansas, jail before posting a $2,500 bond. Both Morris and Chukwuebuka pleaded not guilty and have a scheduled court date for May 23rd.
Morris was a third round draft pick from Oklahoma and is in contention to be the starting left tackle for the team this upcoming season. Godrick was signed last year via the NFL's International Player Pathway.
The Chiefs are aware of the situation.
CHIEFS FALLING APART
The arrest of both players is just the latest controversy to hit the Chiefs organization in what has been a tumultuous offseason.
Wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested last month after allegedly causing a car crash while racing a Lamborghini. He faces eight felony charges and will most likely face NFL disciplinary actions including a suspension.
Meanwhile, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has been the subject of a massive religious and cultural battle after delivering a commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas in which some believed he disparaged women. The result has been condemnation from the NFL and activist groups, while supporters have helped make his jersey one of the top sellers on Fanatics and the NFL Shop.
Somebody needs to tell the defending Super Bowl Champions to slow down a bit with their off-the-field activities - it's only May!
