Tributes Pour In For Bill Walton After The Basketball Legend Passed Away

The basketball world lost one of its most vibrant personalities Monday, as Bill Walton died at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Walton was a standout player for three years at UCLA and played under the legendary coach John Wooden. During his NBA career, he played for three franchises - the Boston Celtics, Clippers, and Portland Trail Blazers - winning two NBA titles.

Additionally, Walton's alma mater posted a message in memoriam of one of the best players in program history.

After retiring from playing, he became a legend in the broadcasting world, using his infectious energy and love for the game to enliven countless basketball games.

Many people and companies have posted in remembrance of a man who called himself "The Luckiest Guy in the World."

ESPN, his longtime employer, published a video tribute of some of his best moments with a headset on.

Stephen A. Smith expressed his sadness over losing someone he called a friend.

NBA Hall of Famer Julius Irving, who frequently matched up against Walton as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, also offered a heartfelt message to one of his old contemporaries.

Basketball definitely lost one of its brightest ambassadors today. Walton is survived by his four sons - Luke, Adam, Nate and Chris - as well as his wife, Lori.
