Wild Video Shows Tornado Ripping Across Tiger Woods' Golf Course
Tornadoes ripped across the midwestern United States on Monday, and one in particular touched down at Payne's Valley, the golf course designed by Tiger Woods located near Branson, Missouri.
According to local news outlet OzarksFirst, the tornado first appeared at the golf course just before 4:00 PM on Monday before a video of the scene was shared to X, formerly Twitter, a half hour later.
Footage shows some downed trees on the property with others being whipped around as if they were twigs. The video, taken by someone driving a golf cart, was filmed near the first tee of the course.
If the tornado in the video doesn't look ‘normal,' that's because it is believed to be a landspout, which is a miniature tornado that forms from a growing cloud as opposed to the actual storm passing over the property.
Another video shared to X shows the view from inside a building on the golf course, with workers rolling in tables as the tornado appears to move closer to their location.
Payne's Valley is the first public golf course in the United States designed by Woods and his TGR Design firm.
The course, opened in 2020, has a famous ‘19th hole’ that was designed by Johnny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro Shops. The hole is surrounded by rock walls and plays to an island green with streams and waterfalls around the putting surface.
Woods and Justin Thomas paired up to beat Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy in the Payne's Valley Cup to unveil the course to the public.
While Woods will certainly be kept in the loop for any updates regarding damage to the golf course, he's currently in Louisville, Kentucky preparing for this week's PGA Championship at Valhalla.
