Tiger Woods Is Leaning On His Son, Charlie, For Putting Tips At The U.S. Open
Tiger Woods has brought his son, Charlie, along for the ride for this week's U.S. Open, but the 15-year-old isn't solely there for moral support or an inside-the-ropes look at a major championship. No, Charlie is there to help his old man navigate the daunting greens of Pinehurst No. 2.
Charlie was spotted on the range with his father during the Masters back in April, but in the lead-up to the third major championship of the year, Tiger is turning to his son for advice and reminders when he has the putter in his hand.
"As far as his responsibilities, it's the same. I trust him with my swing and my game. He's seen it more than anybody else in the world. He's seen me hit more golf balls than anyone," Tiger said when asked about Charlie's responsibilities as a supporter. "I tell him what to look for, especially with putting. He gave me a couple little side bits today, which was great, because I get so entrenched in hitting certain putts to certain pins, I tend to forget some of the things I'm working on."
"I just want to see the balls rolling. He reminds me every now and again, which is great. We have a great relationship and rapport like that, and it's a wonderful experience for both of us."
While Charlie is well aware that his father is arguably the greatest golfer of all time, he sees Tiger Woods as simply dad before thinking about anything that has to do with golf. As Tiger mentioned, nobody has seen him hit more golf balls, at least over the last 15 years, than Charlie has. Therefore, Charlie doesn't know any different, he's just there reminding dad what to do on the greens while he prepares for ‘just another tournament.’

From the outside looking in, Tiger talking about his son having "responsibilities" and telling him "what to look for" is a tiny yet awesome glimpse into their lives and relationships. In the grand scheme of things Tiger and Charlie are just another father-son duo going through life, their life just consists of preparing for the biggest golf tournaments in the world together.
