Things Get Awkward When Christian McCaffrey Shuts Down Jersey Swap With Former Stanford Teammate After 49ers' Loss To Vikings

It's not often we get to witness NFL players reject their opponents asking for a jersey swap after a game, but the 'Monday Night Football' broadcast following the 49ers' loss to the Vikings gifted us with that exact scenario between Christian McCaffrey and Harrison Phillips.

McCaffrey was understandably frustrated after what was San Francisco's second straight loss. While he did get in the end zone twice on Monday night, McCaffrey also lost a costly fumble earlier in the game during his team's 22-17 loss on the road.

Despite his frustrations, one would assume McCaffrey would still be willing to swap jerseys with Minnesota defensive tackle Harrison Phillips given the fact that they were college teammates at Stanford.

As caught on camera, Phillips was the one who initiated the potential swap of thread, but McCaffrey simply shook his head as the defensive tackle started taking off his jersey.

The Manning brothers' commentary adds even more hilarity to the moment.

While the two shared a hug and posed for a quick photo, there's no denying that this is one of the most brutally awkward jersey swap moments we've ever seen in the NFL. The fact that they were teammates at Stanford years ago actually adds to the awkwardness.

You can't knock Phillips for trying to get his hands on a game-worn McCaffrey jersey, but as Peyton Manning said on the broadcast, that's not a fair trade.
