There's No Evidence Man 'Harassed' Chennedy Carter, WNBA Players Outside Hotel

Wednesday night, Angel Reese and other players from the Chicago Sky WNBA team claimed a man "harassed" them while arriving at their team hotel. The players say the man specifically targeted Chennedy Carter, who aggressively hip-checked Caitlin Clark on the court last weekend.

"Finding out our teams hotel to pull with a camera as we get off the bus and put it in my teammates face & HARASS her is NASTY WORK. this really is outta control and needs to STOP," Reese posted on X.

"Getting harassed at our hotel is where the line needs to be drawn. Some "fans" have NO CHILLLLL 🤮," posted Sky forward Michaela Onyenwere.

"WOW!!! Thank GOD for security. My teammate being harassed at our hotel is insane! Couldn’t even step off the bus!!!" added Isabelle Harrison, another forward for the team.

Then came the video.

Based on the clip, the man who allegedly "harassed" Chennedy Carter simply asked her a question while recording her with his camera. "Chennedy, have you had a chance to reach out to Caitlin Clark," he asked repeatedly.

We understand that a troll running up and asking questions can be uncomfortable. However, as Greg Price comments, WNBA players "demand to be treated the same as NBA players but not with the scrutiny of being a public figure that comes along with it."

TMZ made an entire business out of confronting celebrities and athletes in public. WNBA players – mostly because of Caitlin Clark – are now public figures.

Scrutiny is not "harassment."

Now, Michaela Onyenwere claims the video was "edited."

"Interesting how the video posted was edited and doesn’t include when he harassed our staff while calling us "ghetto b******" and saying "women’s sports isn’t s***". We are not about to normalize things like that."

However, the general manager of the Chicago Sky has since contradicted Onyenwere telling of the event. Jeff Pagliocca's description of the incident matches what we see on video.

"It was over as fast as it started," Pagliocca told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I’m very confident in our security always making our players feel safe. Today was a great example of how critical they are to our team."

"The man had a camera and was trying to approach guard Chennedy Carter, however security was able to de-escalate the situation without the assistance of police, general manager Jeff Pagliocca [said]," added USA Today.

Onyenwerece disabled the mentions on her post, following Pagliocca's comments  to the media.

OutKick requested an official comment from the Chicago Sky organization on Thursday. We asked the team if it stands by its players' statements and if there is an additional video to corroborate their allegations.

As of publication, 15 hours after we requested a comment, the team has not responded.

Thus, skepticism is warranted.

Simply taking the words of perpetual victims like Angel Reese doesn't make you empathetic. It makes you sheep.

There's a trend.

OutKick writer David Hookstead recently documented the number of scandals in sports that turned out to be products of lies  – from Duke Lacrosse to the Trevor Bauer sexual assault allegations, from "Dinger" gate to Bubba Wallace noose gate.

Likewise, there's no evidence to suggest the man "harassed" Chennedy Carter or any member of the Chicago Sky by shouting racial slurs at them.

If the man acted the way the players claim, the hotel (perhaps via footage) and nearby camera phones will surely corroborate their allegations with video evidence.

So far, no one has.
