The Usual Suspects Are Angry That OutKick Asked Dawn Staley About Transgenders In Women's Sports
Earlier today, OutKick's Dan Zaksheske asked South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley whether transgender women should be included in women's sports.
The question seemed reasonable, seeing as, you know, women's college basketball is currently dominating the sports world.
Between Caitlin Clark and the Iowa-UConn game last night – and the ending, of course – it's a pretty great time in women's sports.
I don't know about you, but I personally can't remember a time quite like this when it comes to not only women's basketball, but female sports altogether.
Does anyone even know who's playing in the men's final four tonight? Joking – sort of.
Point is, asking Dawn Staley – arguably the biggest name in the women's college basketball, along with Clark and the LSU contingent – a question about the current transgender movement and how it pertains to the state of women's sports seemed justified.
Here's Staley's response, which – shockingly – got all the liberal keyboard warriors FIRED UP on an otherwise nice Saturday afternoon:
"I'm of the opinion of, if you're a woman, you should play," Staley started. "If you consider yourself a woman and you want to play sports or vice versa, you should be able to play. That's my opinion. You want me to go deeper?"
Of course, Coach! Let it rip:
"Yes, yes. So now the barnstormer people are going to flood my timeline and be a distraction to me on one of the biggest days of our game, and I'm okay with that. I really am."
People are mad at OutKick for asking Dawn Staley a pretty important question
I mean, good God. It's such a slap in the face to women. We're truly living in bizarro world right now.
I don't get it. Someone, make it make sense!
"Don't know if people understand how powerful and remarkable it is for Dawn Staley to back the trans community on such a big stage."
"Incredible statement of inclusivity."
"She's asked by the usual suspects."
Hey, Nancy – YOU'RE the usual suspect. Not us. You! Don't you get it? Do you see it, yet?
How can you champion women's sports and also say you support biological males playing … women's sports? You can't. It doesn't work.
If Mike would unblock OutKick, we'd tell him, too. But he won't. Sad. One day, maybe!
Anyway, the media reaction from the actual usual suspects was fast and furious after Staley gave us "barnstormers" the quote of the weekend.
Can't believe Dan actually had the audacity to … do his job … and ask a women's head basketball coach a question about the current assault on women's sports on the biggest women's sports stage in recent memory.
"How dare you, Dan. How dare you, OutKick! Can't you just let the women play?!"
Funny thing is, we're trying to! We'd love nothing more than to just let the actual women play.
Anyway, I'm sure more reaction will roll in as the day grows old. Here's some actual sane reaction on the way out:
