The Chiefs Might Be Burying The Travis Kelce - Andy Reid Sideline Audio Clip
Travis Kelce was mic'd up for the Super Bowl earlier this month. Meaning, the moment in which he berated head coach Andy Reid on the sideline rests in an audio/video file somewhere.
That somewhere is inside NFL Films, a league-owned production company.
Last week, we told you about how "Inside The NFL" on CW aired mic'd up footage from the Super Bowl via NFL Films but curiously muted the exchange between Reid and Kelce.
Take a look:
The official NFL YouTube account also uploaded a mic-up alternative of the game in an honestly riveting 43-minute mini-movie, excluding the moment with Kelce.
Someone, obviously, doesn't want the audio of what Kelce shouted at his head coach available to the public. Two sources told the New York Post that it's their belief the Kansas City Chiefs are behind the burying of the clip, specifically Andy Reid.
"Two people highly plugged into the sports media business told The Post that they suspect the Chiefs blocked NFL Films — which captures the mic’d up audio — and "Inside the NFL" from airing the direct Kelce soundbite, with one saying he thought that this edict came from Reid," said the report.
The Chiefs/Reid likely didn't have to do much begging, either.
Travis Kelce is among the most famous individual athletes in the NFL. His romance with Taylor Swift has increased the interest in Chiefs' games substantially – notably among female viewers, leading to the highest-rated Super Bowl on record.
It's in the league's best interest not to release a video that would undoubtedly portray Kelce as an unhinged lunatic while bumping his 65-year-old head coach.
A lip-reader says that he believes Kelce said, "Hey, come on, you f–ker, put me in."
Now, there remains a possibility that an inside employee at NFL Films will leak the audio clip anonymously. There's always a possibility.
And, oh, what virality that leak would spark.
