Texas AD Appears To Throw Major Shade At SEC Rivalries: VIDEO

Texas AD Chris Del Conte is already stirring the pot before officially joining the SEC.

The Longhorns and Oklahoma officially join the SEC July 1st, and it will represent the start of a new era in college sports. The SEC and Big Ten are both pursuing rapid expansion. Your grandfather's college football no longer exists. Right, wrong or indifferent, it's just a fact.

It's also a fact that nothing gets the heart pumping like taking shots at other programs, and that's what Del Conte did before even joining the SEC.

Chris Del Conte declares SEC rivalries having nothing on the Red River Rivalry.

The SEC has some great rivalries, but Del Conte feels nothing can match the scope and size of the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma.

"[The Red River Rivalry] is ridiculous. It's the greatest thing ever. You may talk about the Cocktail Party, the Iron Bowl. It's nothing like this game at the state fair because you have 300,000 people outside. The Iron Bowl is awesome. Don't get me wrong. At night, it's great. Same thing with the Cocktail Party, but this game is nuts," Del Conte told Paul Finebaum during a Wednesday interview.

He did attempt to walk it back, but you can't recall those words. Watch the funny exchange below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Inject this right into my soul. Del Conte might have tried to play it off like he wasn't saying anything, but he knew exactly what he was doing.

He was throwing a chaos grenade right into an emotional and jam-packed SEC locker. Sure, the SEC has some awesome rivalries, but the historic conference has nothing on the rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl, in Del Conte's eyes.

I absolutely love it. Texas hasn't played a single SEC football game yet, and Del Conte is already taking shots. This is the kind of passion and energy fans love to see.

College football can't get here soon enough. It's going to be an epic time, and I can't wait. Texas better back up Del Conte's words or the team is in big trouble. Let's roll, and make sure to let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
