Tennessee Baseball Isn't The Only One Winning In Omaha, As Former Vols Pitcher Wins $1 Million Off Bryson

The Tennessee baseball team wasn’t the only one winning big games in Omaha this past weekend. One Vols fan enjoying pregame festivities inside Rocco's on Sunday had a lot more to celebrate as Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open.

As Tennessee was preparing to take the field for its game against North Carolina, Hunter Daniel was clad in orange, eagerly watching the US Open across the street, along with taking down a few Jell-O shots in the process. Sure, there were a number of people in the bar watching Rory Mcllroy fall apart on the final three holes, but there was only one fan that had $1 million on the line.

Thanks to the DraftKings Sportsbook fantasy golf challenge, tensions were high inside the pizzeria for Daniel. Surrounded by a group of friends, wearing his Vols baseball jersey, Daniel frantically watched on as Bryson DeChambeau found himself one putt away from taking home the US Open trophy.

For Hunter Daniel, watching Bryson make his way up to the 18th green for a putt to win it all, he knew that if DeChambeau sank his shot, he'd be cashing-in on a $1 million prize. Can you imagine the feeling this Tennessee fan had watching the final sequence of the chaotic PGA event?

It should certainly be noted that Hunter Daniel played for Tennessee, and went to high school at Bearden. So, it's not surprising that he bleeds orange.

As Rory missed his second putt, and Bryson hit that beautiful shot out of the bunker, Hunter Daniel knew he'd be walking away with some money, but the putt on the 18th hole sealed the deal.

Good thing Hunter set his lineup before he left for Omaha, as online gambling is not allowed in the State of Nebraska. So, before leaving Nashville for the College World Series, he made the decision on who he was going to put in his lineup for the DraftKings challenge.

So who was in his six-man lineup that goes off a points system for the US Open? Hunter chose Tony Finau, Corey Conners, Hideki Matsuyama, Ludvig Åberg, Russell Henley and obviously Bryson DeChambeau.

As you can tell by the points system, this was an extremely tight race between Hunter and ‘Troywiz34’.

No Time For Jell-O Shots, Tennessee Baseball Was Starting

You would think after the monster win that the group of buddies would celebrate with a few Jell-O shots, including the distributor of the shots, Jeffrey Welk of Nashville who owns JEVO

According to Hunter, his group didn’t have time to celebrate because they had to get across the street for the start of Tennessee's game against North Carolina.

"When you win a milly but the Vols play in 10 minutes," Hunter Daniel responded when I asked what was going through his mind once things settled down.

It's as if all the stars were aligning in Omaha for anyone associated with the Tennessee Vols, as Tony Vitello and his squad would go on to defeat North Carolina to advance in the College World Series.

As for what's next, Hunter knows that Uncle Sam will get his cut, but he's headed for the beach for a few days on his vacation. But don’t you worry, if Tennessee makes it to the championship series this weekend, Hunter plans on heading back to Omaha on Sunday.

Seeing your favorite team win a few games at the College World Series and winning $1 million on your trip to Omaha.

I'd say that's about as good as it can get, besides adding a national championship.
