Team USA Men's Soccer Needs To Wake Up After Getting Sucker-Punched By France

The USA needed its Olympic men's soccer team to steal an improbable match over odds-favorite France on Wednesday in a Group A stage match.

The odds were definitely stacked against the Yanks; nonetheless, the Americans needed this win purely to keep American exceptionalism alive and thriving — pure star-spangled goodness.

American men's soccer has missed the memo recently but faced the ripe opportunity to bust the door down on a long-awaited Olympics return.

Americans Drop First Match At Paris Games

Well, we're sad to report that Wednesday was another showcase of disappointment for Team USA soccer. The Olympic torch has yet to be lit, and we're already down in soccer. Marseille Stadium went wild for Team France's dominant performance, stealing Team USA's cheers.

The Olympic men's team was clobbered by the French, 3-0.

The Group A opener against France was a real 'David versus Goliath' tale for the Americans.

Serbian coach Marko Mitrovic and the USMNT played a tough first half on Wednesday, 0-0, but entirely ran out of grit in the second by surrendering three goals.

It was a long-awaited return to the global stage for Team USA — missing qualifications for the Olympics the past 16 years, having last played in 2008.

France drew first blood in the 61st minute, 1-0, off an Alexandre Lacazette goal shot from outside the box.

Seven minutes passed, and France piled on with a Michael Olise goal.

Loic Bade's third goal of the evening for Team France drove a stake through Team USA's hopes, though they're not out of the fight yet.

As Americans, every team we send to the Olympic Games carries with it the spirit of the 1980 U.S. men's Olympic hockey team, which faced improbable odds with an indomitable will.

Unfortunately, these USMNT guys succumbed to the jitters on Wednesday.

Yes, USMNT braces for another match, this time facing New Zealand, on Saturday, but the team needs to WAKE UP and win this Olympic gold for America, a nation on the fringes thanks to DEI.

The under-23 youngsters on Team USA are repping the Red, White, and Blue at a pivotal moment in American history where democracy is on fire, according to CNN, and American exceptionalism is the perfect antidote to shutting down commies. Fix the cleats; give the kids super serum; do whatever.

The Americans need to win this.

Even in such difficult times for the USMNT, the one unifying point has been the ousting of former coach Gregg Berhalter, who was rightfully dubbed persona non grata for that embarrassing Copa America exit.

The USMNT needs to step up its game, or face serious trouble if it does not make it out of the group stage.
