Taylor Fritz, American Hero, Tells Wimbledon Opponent To 'Have A Good Flight Home' After Securing Win

Taylor Fritz has that dawg in him. He reminded the tennis world of that after taking down Arthur Rinderknech in the second round of Wimbledon. Fritz told the Frenchman to have a good flight home not once, but twice, during their post-match meeting at the net.

The 26-year-old American managed to beat Rinderknech in four sets, and while Fritz provided plenty of highlights with his play on court, the message he delivered after the win certainly earned him some new fans.

After shaking Rinderknech's hand at the net, Fritz was seen telling him to "have a good flight home." When the Frenchman responded, appearing to ask him what he just said, Fritz delivered the same message again saying, "have a good flight home" for a second time.

Fritz was also caught shouting "fu-k that guy" while looking towards his coach's box and pointing at Rinderknech.

The now-viral moments delivered by Fritz weren't just some random trash talking, he has a history with Rinderknech.

Their second-round matchup was a rematch of their meeting at the 2023 French Open, a match Fritz won in front of a partisan and rowdy French crowd. During his post-match interview following his victory at the French Open, Fritz was met with a barrage of boos from the crowd that lasted well over a minute after he put his finger to his mouth telling the fans to be quiet.

Rinderknech opened himself up to serious criticism with comments he made before his rematch with Fritz at Wimbledon.

"The atmosphere will be quieter (than at Roland Garros) and he won’t cry as much," Rinderknech said, according to Tennis.com. "He whined a bit saying it was too noisy. I hold no grudge against him, but he was wrong if he thought the French crowd would send him kisses in between points."

Fritz admitted that Rinderknech's pre-match comments served as "extra fire" during his four-set victory.

"I’m a very chill person. I don’t do anything that could rub people the wrong way. When someone just goes out of their way to take a shot at me, then I’m not just going to take it. It gave me the extra fire to win."

"When we shook hands, I just said, ‘Have a nice flight home.'"

Fritz will take on Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in the third round of Wimbledon, a tournament he reached the quarterfinals in back in 2022.
