Texans WR Tank Dell Back To Work Less Than A Month After Suffering Gunshot Wound

Up-and-coming Houston Texans wideout Tank Dell made an impressive appearance at OTAs this week, looking explosive on the field, less than a month since he suffered a gunshot wound.

On April 27, 2024, Dell sustained minor injuries after a teenager shot at a crowd of people during an event in Sanford, Florida — injuring 10 people in the process.

The 24-year-old was a full participant on Tuesday. Dell posted footage of his drills during OTAs, flashing impressive speed and an incredible recovery from the tragic event.

Footage of the incident was released, showing the crowd of people scurrying as gunshots rang out.

Dell suffered a non-life-threatening wound as the bullet struck the back of his leg and exited through the front. He was discharged from the hospital the following day,

As previously reported on OutKick, the altercation started as a verbal spat before the shooter fired. A 16-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the event, and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a second shooter was present.

Dell's rookie campaign turned heads in Houston until an unfortunate season-ending injury cut his season short. In 11 games, Dell recorded 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. Houston selected Dell with the 69th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans spoke on the budding player's improving health, both from the season-ending injury and recent gunshot wound.

"Happy for Tank to get back out there. He went through a very tragic situation," Ryans shared on Tuesday. "We're just happy that he's here, happy that he's back out being able to do what he loves doing and that's playing football. It's fun to see him running around. Being that same player he's been before, making plays and being a dynamic player for us. Everyone is excited to see Tank."
