T'Vondre Sweat Crashed Into Vehicle Before DWI Arrest
More details emerged regarding NFL prospect T'Vondre Sweat's DWI arrest from Sunday.
According to a statement by the Austin Police Department, Sweat's vehicle crashed into a sedan before authorities arrested the former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The driver of the other vehicle then fled on foot, according to the statement, and an investigation has been launched. Sweat was released on a $3,000 bond. Footage emerged Sunday afternoon showing the top-rated DL leaving Travis County Jail, wearing a towel over his face.
APD's statement Monday read: "The driver of the SUV, T'Vondre Sweat, was arrested for DWI. … The sedan driver left the scene on foot immediately after the crash."
The timing of the arrest couldn't be worse for a highly coveted NFL Draft prospect (unless your name is Laremy Tunsil).
As previously reported on OutKick, Sweat has been evaluated as a top-five talent at his position and was projected to land toward the latter end of the first round.
Sweat faces a misdemeanor DWI charge. According to Texas law, Sweat could face a $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail.
With this new off-the-field issue, Sweat's evaluation could crater in the eyes of NFL general managers. Our very own Dan Zaksheske projected Sweat to come off the board at No. 20, heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers. T'Vondre is also the little brother of former fourth-round pass rusher Josh Sweat.
A CBS Sports report noted that Sweat is scheduled to meet with the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks this week, regardless of his arrest.
