Stephon Gilmore Unhappy With Bill Belichick Portrayal In ‘Dynasty’: Greatest Coach I’ve Ever Been Around
Since the release of the Apple TV+ docuseries Dynasty, many former New England Patriots players have expressed disapproval of the portrayal of certain figures in the organization. Stephon Gilmore is the latest to come forward.
The former Pats cornerback felt the series didn't show Bill Belichick in a positive light. So he took to social media to defend the head coach.
"Just watched The Dynasty. Bill was the greatest coach I’ve ever been around. Don’t let that fool you," Gilmore posted on X. "I’ll never forget we were a predominantly man team during the 2018 season all the way up to the Super Bowl. When we played the Rams we switched to Zone."
He's referring to Super Bowl LIII, when Belichick changed up the defensive scheme — confusing the heck out of Jared Goff and defeating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3.
"No coach would switch what they did all season in a big game like that," Gilmore added in another post.
But if that story isn't enough to convince you of Belichick's greatness, how about a game against the Buffalo Bills in which he coached Gilmore to shut down the star receiver?
"Or Him telling me to play trail technique in buffalo because the Quarterback can’t throw against the wind when i was following a big time receiver," Gilmore wrote. "If you ever played corner that’s not a good feeling playing trail technique. I shut the WR down to 0 catches."
And Gilmore certainly isn't the only one who didn't love the docuseries. Patriots owner Robert Kraft said at NFL owners meetings last month he was "a little disappointed that there wasn’t a more positive approach, especially for Patriot fans who have lived the experience with us."

Former Patriots players Rodney Harrison and Devin McCourty also lashed out about the documentary — McCourty saying he was "duped" into speaking in it.
Stephon Gilmore played for the Patriots and Belichick from 2017-2020. He was a first-team All-Pro twice during his four years in New England and won the AP Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019.
