Steph Curry Was The Only Team USA Player To Sign Autographs For Kids
Steph Curry is being praised as "A man of the fans," after the 4x NBA Champion was the only Team USA player to stop and sign autographs for fans that waited hours outside in 110+ degree temperatures.
FANS WERE IGNORED BY NBA PLAYERS EXCEPT STEPH CURRY
A TikTok video taken by a fan outside the team's Las Vegas practice space quickly went viral that showed a number of fans waiting in the scorching heat as Team USA's practice wrapped up. With a caption that read, "Guess who was the only Team USA Basketball player to stop for fans in 114 degree heat?" over 2 million intrigued sports fans viewed the clip, wondering who would be the hero.
One by one, Kevin Durant, Jrue Holiday, Tyrese Haliburton, even former player and now Team USA assistant coach Grant Hill all walked out and ignored the fans who were desperately shouting for a high five or an autograph.
To really nail in the point, the TIkTok creator had a narrator say "Nope!" after each player was named.
That is, until Steph Curry came out to show his appreciation to the fans.
TEAM USA'S FIRST GAME WILL BE JULY 28TH AGAINST SERBIA
The future NBA Hall of Famer immediately walked over to the barricade of fans that erupted with cheers as he took the time to walk up and down and sign autographs.
Now, as someone who has covered professional sports teams and understands that they don't owe the fans anything, per se, and that yes, we all have our bad days. It's not fair to always expect someone - even an athlete, to just pretend that everything is alright if it's not. Having said that, the fact that it is the summer and that the team is gearing up to represent the United States of America in the Paris Olympics, one would think that stopping to sign a few autographs wouldn't be such a big hassle.
Apparently it was for everyone except Steph Curry… who I now hope averages 45 points each game thanks to that good karma for being from a fan to the fans.
