Stars Matt Duchene Dances On Predators’ Grave; Scores Two Goals in 9-2 Rout After Performing Across The Street
In the more than 25-year history of the Nashville Predators, I'm not sure that anyone enjoyed being a Predator more than Matt Duchene.
He was bought out last summer, ahead of free agency, and wound up landing with the rival Dallas Stars. In his second game back in Nashville, Duchene and company went off, and then he dropped what could be an all-time victory lap.
Back in December, the Stars won in Duchene's return to Nashville 3-2. The teams met two more times in January — both in Dallas — and both games were won by the Predators.
The Stars visited Music City again on Thursday night, and won in serious style by an eye-watering score of 9-2, ensuring that every game in the season series between the two teams was won by the visitors.
For his part, you can tell Duchene is comfortable at Bridgestone Arena, because he lit the lamp twice.
We'll get into how much this guy loved playing in Nashville, but that had to feel good.
According to The Tennessean, on Wednesday night, Duchene took the stage at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge — right across the street from where he and his teammates embarrassed his former team — and belted out some tunes.
Duchene is known to be a musician, so that's probably one of the reasons he felt right at home in Nashville.
He recently opened up about how hard it was to learn that GM Barry Trotz had made the call to buy out the remainder of his contract.
It looks like it may have worked for Duchene. The Stars currently lead the Central Division, which also features a couple of powerhouses in the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets. The Predators are currently fifth in the division and two points out of the last wild card spot in the Western Conference.
