Social Media Reacts To Denver Broncos Trading For Quarterback Zach Wilson From New York Jets
The drama between the New York Jets and former #2 overall pick Zach Wilson has finally come to an end. The Jets traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos on Monday, just three days ahead of the NFL Draft, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The move gives Wilson a fresh start, which he desperately needs after three lackluster seasons with the Jets. It gives the Broncos another option at quarterback after letting Russell Wilson go, although none of them inspire much confidence.
Currently, the Broncos have Wilson, Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci as the three quarterbacks on the roster. All of them have proven to be NFL backup quarterbacks and nothing more so far in their careers.
Of course, the Broncos could eye a quarterback during this week's NFL Draft. Denver currently holds the #12 overall pick in Thursday's first round. However, they don't have a second-round pick, so their next selection comes at #76 overall.
For the Jets, the Wilson experience just didn't work out. Wilson went 12-21 as a starter in his three seasons, was benched several different times, and then the team went out and got Aaron Rodgers prior to last season.
Wilson's career completion percentage of 57% is abysmal, and he has more interceptions thrown (25) than touchdown passes (23).
Still, when something big happens in the NFL, the best thing to do is look for the jokes on social media. And people had jokes.
I've been critical of Broncos head coach Sean Payton because I think he is an overrated NFL head coach.
That being said, if he somehow manages to turn Zach Wilson into a competent NFL starting quarterback, I might have to re-think my stance.
Maybe. We'll see.
