Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Were 'Too Busy' For Dodgers' Pride Festivities
Remember the blasphemous group of drag-racing nuns pretending to promote an honorable movement, only to cause a backlash from Dodgers fans when they were invited to the stadium for Pride Month 2023? The men dressed as women; more specifically, the delusional men dressed as Catholic nuns in heinous drag makeup.
For those who've forgotten, sorry to bring them to memory.
And for those who never had to endure the eyesore, thankfully, you won't have to see them in the near future.
Last year, Dodgers' PR hatched the terrible idea of inviting a queer group that revels in ridiculing the Catholic religion to promote drag.
The team soon received a response from its fanbase (and players) heavily comprised of Hispanic and Catholic fans. They absolutely hated the idea of inviting and honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at Chavez Ravine.
One year later, the Sisters are reportedly ‘too booked’ to go to Dodger Stadium.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Sisters are ‘too busy’ to attend the Pride festivities.
One of the "weirdos"—going by the name "Sister June"—spoke to the Times, claiming the backlash led to more bookings for the Sisters, thus their being left out of Dodgers' Pride events.
Some would like to think they were ‘shunned' out (guilty).
"Much like a lighthouse, we’re a beacon for weirdos," Sister June told the LA Times. "People who get it come to us. And all this situation has done has made that light so much brighter. We’ve reached communities that are having their very first Prides and they want us there to support them. Because they know ... they now have Sisters to lean back on."
On its surface, the claim is almost laughable and, without a doubt, dubious.
Think about it, the Sisters — received with antipathy by Dodgers fans — are too busy to visit the league's most popular team?
LA Times' Chuck Shilken wrote the following:
"The Sisters simply don’t have time to attend Friday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals. They are completely booked for all of Pride Month this year, something they credit to all the publicity they received a year ago during what founding member Sister Unity refers to as 'the Dodgers kerfuffle.'"
The team honored the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on June 16, 2023. After announcing their invitation to the Sisters, Dodgers fans banded together to protest their appearance at the stadium. The LA Times' report called this gathering dangerous to the Sisters' well-being.
Additionally, athletes in and around the Dodgers spoke up, calling out the distasteful group for attempting to represent unity by blaspheming a religion.
Washington Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams criticized the Dodgers for stepping on their Christian/Catholic fans with the invitation.
Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw called for the team to hold an event honoring their Christian fans after inviting the Sisters. Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen released a public statement condemning the team's Pride event.
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap," Treinen's statement read, in part.
The overwhelming sentiment from players and fans was that the event was too focused on promoting a queer message that was too much of a distraction from the sport.
Whether they were not invited or too booked to attend, the Sisters' omission from Pride events this year is a good thing for Dodgers fans, who overwhelmingly show up to watch baseball, not LGBT events.
OutKick contacted the Dodgers on Sunday; we have not heard back from the team.
