Shannon Sharpe Says Molly Qerim Doesn't Work Out, Leads To Awkward First Take Segment
ESPN's "First Take" has been in the news quite a bit this week, mostly surrounding the coverage of Caitlin Clark and the WNBA. But the show got back to its roots on Tuesday, with Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe making awkward comments towards host Molly Qerim.
Qerim frequently endures strange comments on the show. There was the time Smith called her a "supermodel" on the show. There was a bizarre conversation about vibrating cell phones that veered into strange territory. Plus, there was that time that Dan Orlovsky sniffed her shoe live on the air.
So, yeah, these things happen, I suppose. On Tuesday, the conversation started with Smith asking Molly if she preferred red wine or white wine.
Qerim responded that she "doesn't drink" and Smith was flabbergasted, "Not even wine!? YOU?! WOW! That's a SHOCKER right there!"
That wasn't the end of it, though. Shannon Sharpe decided to jump in.
"Guess what else you don't do, Molly?" Sharpe began. "WORK OUT!"
"What?" Qerim asks, confused. "I don't work out?"
"NO," Sharpe quickly replied. He later explains that she's asked to work out with Sharpe but has never actually done it. Perhaps it's because of conversations like this:
It's good to see "First Take" get away from talking about Caitlin Clark and the WNBA so they can get to more pressing topics, like the drinking and exercise habits of Molly Qerim.
This is why the viewers tune in every day. They want to see Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe making uncomfortable and awkward comments. When the pair tries to tackle serious subjects, it typically doesn't go that well.
Seeing them get back to their roots gives me hope for the future of the show.
