Security Takes Out Fan Trying To Take Selfie With Manny Machado After Padres' Walk-Off Win

One San Deigo Padres fan learned the hard way that he is not, in fact, part of the team.

With the game tied up at 8 apiece in the bottom of the ninth, Manny Machado blasted a two-run bomb to give the Pads a walk-off win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. And as the players celebrated at home plate, a fan ran onto the field to join them.

In fact, the man ran right up to Machado himself and began jumping up and down while recording in selfie mode. And Machado was so caught up in the excitement that he played along.

That is, until security got involved — tackling the man to the ground on the live broadcast.

What a takedown!

The walk-off home run was a huge relief for the crowd at Petco Park after a roller coaster of a game. The Padres entered the ninth inning with a 7-2 lead over their division rivals. But the D-backs' bats came alive in the form of a grand slam and a go-ahead home run. But just when San Diego fans thought the game had slipped away, Jurickson Profar tied it up with a solo shot, and Machado came through with the late-game heroics.

"We're going to fight until that 27th out is made," Machado said, according to MLB.com. "Whether we’re making it in that last inning or we’re winning it in that last inning, we’re going to continue to fight."

It was Machado’s eighth walk-off home run since the start of the 2014 season — the most in the Majors in that span. The Padres, as a team, have notched six walk-off victories this season, including an MLB-best four via the home run.

"I expect us to do it," Profar said. "... We’re making it normal, right?"

The Padres currently sit in second place in the NL West — 7.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.
