Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalk Shows Off Hoop Skills During Pickup Basketball Game
Last month, Austin Rivers claimed that 30 NBA players could immediately play in the NFL, but not the other way around. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf might beg to differ.
"I can take 30 players right now from the NBA and throw them in the NFL," Rivers said in early May. "You cannot take 30 NFL players and put them in the NBA."
Well, if there were any NFL players who might be able to make the switch, Metcalf would have to be near the top of that list. From a size perspective, Metcalf fits the bill, standing at 6'4".
Plus, he's built like a brick house and can jump out of the gym. Feels like those attributes might translate on the basketball court. But you don't have to take my word for it.
A video was posted on social media showing Metcalf playing in a pickup basketball game, and the highlights included him throwing down a few ridiculous dunks.
WATCH:
This isn't the first time we've seen Metcalf on the hard court. He competed in the 2023 Celebrity Game during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Metcalf captured the MVP award in the game, scoring 20 points while adding 10 rebounds and four blocks.
Call me crazy, but I think Metcalf could play in the NBA if he dedicated himself to playing basketball.
But there's no reason to do that since he's a star in the NFL. He's posted back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons for the Seahawks and has over 5,000 yards in five seasons to go along with 43 touchdowns.
The NBA pays well, but the receiver market is exploding in the NFL and Metcalf is likely to command a nine-figure total contract at some point in the very near future.
So, yeah, some NFL players could play in the NBA, but why would they? Football pays better and is far more popular in the United States. I think D.K. Metcalf is perfectly fine with his career choice.
