Scottie Scheffler Refuses To Sign Autograph For One Specific Fan At Travelers Championship

The majority of folks in the Cromwell, Connecticut area - the site of this week's Travelers Championship - are riding high this week. Not only are they welcoming a PGA Tour signature event to the area, but most NBA fans at this week's tournament are Boston Celtics supporters.

With the Celtics recently earning their record-setting 18th title, it's good to be a Boston sports fan at the moment.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, well he's experiencing the flip side of that reality.

While Scheffler was born in New Jersey, he was raised in Dallas, Texas, and still calls the city home today. Given his ties to the city, Scheffler is a big-time Dallas Mavericks fan, and ahead of this week's tournament he hilariously explained a scenario in which he had to turn down an autograph request from a fan.

"You arrive in New England right after the Celtics beat the Mavs…" a reporter at the Travelers began, before being cut off by Scheffler. "Do I have to answer this question?" Scheffler interrupted, turning to the moderator.

The reigning Masters champion was then asked if he entered the week expecting to hear some trash talk from Boston fans, which led him into telling the story about not signing an autograph.

"I did get one fan today ask me to sign a Celtics hat, and I told him no," Scheffler joked. "But other than that not much interaction."

First, he gets arrested at the PGA Championship for having the audacity for driving 3 mph past a cop telling him he can't enter the gates of the venue, and now he's just straight up refusing to sign autographs from fans with certain hats. Jail really changed this guy.

Scheffler went on to shoot a five-under 65 in Thursday's opening round of the Travelers after a surprisingly disappointing week at the U.S. Open.
