Scott Frost Reveals If He Wants To Coach Again, What Type Of Job He'd Take

Scott Frost sounds very interested in eventually returning to coaching.

Frost was fired in 2022 after going 16-31 with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Frost was viewed as the savior of the program.

He was a star on the field with the Cornhuskers, and fans viewed him as the man who could finally return Nebraska to the glory days. However, the reality of the situation and the expectations couldn't have been more different.

Frost's tenure was a complete and total disaster that resulted in him being kicked to the curb with a $15 million buyout. He didn't coach last season, still doesn't have a job going into the upcoming season but is searching for a return.

Scott Frost interested in coaching again

"For the first time in my life, I don't know what's next. I'm dying to get back in," Frost told CBS Sports when talking about his desire to coach again.

Just how interested is Frost in making a return to the college game? He doesn't even need to be a head coach again. If there's a coordinator job he really likes, then he'd absolutely snatch it up.

"I know this, there's some good coaches out there. I'm a good coach. I belong doing it. I just don't know for sure where that's going to be right now. If the right head coach job comes along, I'd take it. If the right coordinator job comes, I'd take it," Frost explained.

The most interesting development here is that Frost is more than willing to essentially take a demotion by becoming an OC again.

A lot of guys who were head coaches at traditional powerhouses don't go back to be coordinators again. Frost's itch to coach is apparently so strong that he'd be more than open to it.

It is a bit odd Frost doesn't really seem to be getting much interest given his success at UCF and success as the OC at Oregon prior to his two head coaching jobs.

You'd think at least a few P5 teams would pick up the phone and call. Fortunately for him, he has a lot of money in the bank thanks to his time in Lincoln, and that means he can be selective.

Also, I say this a lot and I'll say it again, you have to go to a game in Lincoln if you're a fan of college football. I went in 2019 (randomly stayed in the same hotel as Nebraska's team) and had a blast. Great fans and a great atmosphere. Let me know if you've ever visited Nebraska at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
