Famed boxer Roy Jones, Jr., 55, tragically lost his son to suicide over the weekend. DeAndre Jones died on Saturday, the boxer shared on his social media Monday, eliciting an outpour of support from the boxing community.

"Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life on Saturday," the legendary boxer shared in a post.

Jones asked for privacy amid the family's grieving. "I’m so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family. I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life. God gives it and God should be the one to take it away."

DeAndre was the youngest of Jones, Jr.'s three children.

Jones' fame as a boxer includes winning multiple world championships in four weight classes: middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight. Jones amassed a record of 66 wins (47 KOs) and nine losses before retiring in 2018.
