Rory McIlroy Is Reportedly Getting Divorced From Wife Of 7 Years, Erica Stoll

Rory McIlroy has reportedly filed for a divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll.

According to TMZ, McIlroy submitted divorce papers in Florida on Monday, the day after he earned his 26th win on the PGA Tour by finding the winner's circle at the Wells Fargo Championship.

McIlroy first met Stoll in 2012 when she was working for the PGA of America and the Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club. The four-time major winner credits her for playing a role in getting him to the golf course with a police escort after McIlroy misinterpreted his tee time for his match that day.

When they first met, McIlroy was dating tennis superstar Caroline Wozniacki at the time. McIlroy and Wozniacki got engaged at one point before calling things off in 2014. He and Stoll got engaged in December 2015 before tying the knot at Ashford Castle in April 2017. The two have one child together, a daughter named Poppy, who was born in 2020.

While McIlroy is one of the biggest stars in the sport and in the spotlight everywhere he goes, the two have managed to keep their personal lives incredibly private given his status.

Stoll was very rarely seen on-site during PGA Tour events outside of the Par 3 contest ahead of the Masters or events leading up to the Ryder Cup every other year.

She did not celebrate with McIlroy on the green after he secured his win at the Wells Fargo Championship this past Sunday, and given this latest report, it's safe to assume she wasn't in Charlotte to witness his win in person.
