During the first half of the Sparks' game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, she suffered a knee injury. The injury happened when she was driving to the basket, defended by Connecticut's Brionna Jones, and it appeared that her left leg buckled during the play. After testing the knee, Brink cried out in pain. She attempted to walk off the injury but had to keep her weight off the injured knee.
After being carried to the locker room, Brink was ruled out of the remainder of the contest at halftime.
The 22-year-old rookie and off-court phenom posted a statement on her Instagram on Wednesday.
"You never think it will happen to you," Brink posted on IG. "And despite all the hard work sometimes it does.
"This is hard to fathom, but I know it will only make me stronger. I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life — I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work every day to get back to it."
