Rick Pitino Goes Nuclear On His Team With Incredible Rant

Rick Pitino cut it loose on his team after St. John's fell to Seton Hall.

Pitino is in his first season with the Red Storm, and it's not been an easy start. St. John's is a mediocre 14-12 overall and a pathetic 6-9 in Big east games. To make matters worse, the team is 2-8 in its last 10 games after losing to Seton Hall.

The wheels have come off for the Red Storm, and Pitino sounds ready to throw in the towel.

Rick Pitino rants about St. John's being awful.

"We are so unathletic that we can't guard anybody without fouling. For me, I've always enjoyed the first year, and I'm not gonna lie to you: This is the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime. This has been so disappointing," Pitino said Sunday after the 68-62 loss, according to CBS Sports.

He didn't stop there. The famous college basketball coach also called players out by name in a fashion you rarely see these days.

"Look: Joel's [Soriano] slow laterally, he's not fast on the court. Chris Ledlum is slow laterally, Sean Conway's slow laterally. Brady's physically weak, Drissa is slow laterally," Pitino added

Brutal. Absolutely brutal breakdown from the St. John's coach.

This is the kind of energy and passion we need to see from coaches. This is a hell of a lot better than the nonsense fans saw from John Calipari.

He told the media to leave his players alone. The world should seemingly be sunshine and roses to Calipari. Not to Rick Pitino. He very clearly believes the exact opposite.

He took a flamethrower to his own roster in blunt fashion. This is the spirit and attitude we need more of in sports - not less.

Never change, Pitino. Never change. Let me know your thoughts on his comments at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
