Richard Sherman Confirms He Was Drinking Before Being Arrested For DUI

Details have emerged in Richard Sherman’s arrest that confirm he was drinking before driving on Saturday.

The former NFL cornerback was driving in Bellevue, WA at 2:00 am on Saturday when police pulled him over for going 79 mph in a 60. The police on scene asked the Seattle Seahawks legend if he had been drinking any alcohol prior to driving.

Sherman did confess to drinking two margaritas, which led to his arrest for suspicion of DUI. Initially, Sherman’s confession was left out of the first reports. He then agreed to take some "voluntary tests" when police asked him too, but the reports don’t specify what kind of test that was (he also refused to do a breathalyzer). He was booked in King County Jail at 4:51 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday morning.

A district judge found enough probable cause to convict him of DUI, and set a court date for today. As of right now, there is no bail set for Sherman, and he has yet to make any comment on the matter.

This is the second time Sherman has been arrested in recent memory. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors charges after crashing his vehicle in a construction zone and trying to break into his in-laws home the previous year.

After receiving his sentence, he expressed deep remorse for his actions.

 "I’m grateful for the community we have and the way people continue to accept you even though you’re a flawed human being and made a mistake," Sherman said at the time.

Sherman won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2013, and also played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now he does work for Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" and appears regularly on FS1's "Undisputed."
