Pirates Run Out Of Fireworks After Home Run Frenzy Against Mets

The last time the Pittsburgh Pirates hit at least 5 home runs in a single home game was 76 years ago.

Last night, the New York Mets said, ‘Hold my beer."

However, Mets billionaire owner Steve Cohen should have said, "I'll get you for the fireworks."

That's because, after taking an early 2-0 lead against Pittsburgh, the Mets would end up giving up SEVEN home runs to the Pirates throughout the rest of the game. Just how many is that? The Pirates' previous home run record in their own stadium was five. That happened in 1947.

THE PIRATES RAN OUT OF FIREWORKS!

Oh, and if that wasn't enough, Pittsburgh also ran out of fireworks because the Mets allowed them to just absolutely destroy baseballs left and right - including two grand slams to first baseman Rowdy Tellez.

Talk about a long night.

Maybe Major League Baseball should implement a ‘Mercy Rule’ like Little League does.

On the mound for the Pirates once again was MLB's rookie sensation Paul Skenes who pitched another gem, giving up two runs on just four hits in seven innings. If you haven't been paying attention to Skenes you absolutely need to. Not only is he dating Olivia Dunn, but he has been absolutely ROLLIN' in the Majors - setting an MLB record for most games with 7+ strikeouts for a player's first 10 career games last night to go along with his 5-0 record.

The Mets will once again face the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon. Hopefully, they don't find out first hand if the Pirates restocked their fireworks supply.
