Paul Pierce Suffers Gruesome Finger Injury, Shares Photos From Hospital
Paul Pierce is recovering after undergoing surgery to repair a gruesome finger injury.
The former NBA star went viral after posting photos from a hospital on his Instagram story Friday evening. The first picture showed him lying in a hospital bed wearing a gown, and he followed up with three gory, up-close pictures of his fingers, which were covered in blood and mangled.
One of Pierce’s fingertips was facing the wrong way, and there appeared to be a long, deep cut on one of his fingers.
We've blurred the photos, as they are very graphic.
The Boston Celtics legend didn't reveal what actually happened to his fingers — just that he "broke a couple" and was headed in for surgery.
Late Friday night, Pierce posted an update on Twitter, thanking fans for their concern.
"I’m Good surgery went well looks worse then felt I appreciate the concern and love and to my haters I love yall too," he wrote.
Earlier on Friday, Pierce posted a short clip of him in the FS1 studio as he prepared to appear on Undisputed.
Pierce, a 10-time NBA All-Star who won a ring with the Celtics in 2008, played 19 seasons in the NBA, averaging nearly 20 points per game. He is one of only three players to have scored more than 20,000 career points with the Celtics, and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
We still don't know exactly what Pierce did to destroy his fingers like that, but we'll keep an eye on his social media. That said, he's probably not doing a whole lot of typing anytime soon.
