Paul Pierce Can't Believe 'Little White Girl' Caitlin Clark Can Compete With Black Women
Caitlin Clark recorded 41 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds Monday night when she led Iowa past LSU to advance to the Final Four.
Her performance surprised former NBA player Paul Pierce. He never expected to see a "white girl in Iowa" outplay black girls on the court.
"She didn't do this to some other little white girls in Colorado," said Pierce on FS1. "She did this to some black girls from LSU. I didn't expect that."
Translation: Pierce views "little white girl" as inherently inferior to black girls.
He's stunned Clark is this good while still being white.
Pierce is not alone.
Former college basketball player and Fox Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb explained last year how most black people, and a lot of white people, think white people can’t hoop and need special treatment in order to be viewed on the same level as black players.
He's right.
The racialization of Caitlin Clark is profound. It's found across the media, starting with Sheryl Swoopes and Gilbert Arenas. Over the weekend, former ESPN host Jemele Hill complained that Clark receives more media coverage than black players.
That comment was just one of several ignorant remarks Hill made about Clark in the past few days. Here are some others:
"The Sports Race Wars," says Jemele.
I honestly haven’t seen one white person reference the "Race Wars" regarding Caitlin Clark. Not one. But we’ve seen several black people in media, like Jemele, fixate almost exclusively on Clark’s race.
Caitlin Clark is a successful straight white woman from middle America. That’s an identity crime in sports in 2024.
Just wait until Paul Pierce sees what Nikola Jokic does to black players in the NBA…
