Patrick Mahomes Makes Bizarre Comments About Villain Role

Patrick Mahomes is okay with people thinking he's a villain…….even though nobody does.

The Kansas City Chiefs will square up against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this Sunday.

It should be a great game, and it will give Mahomes the chance to win his third ring. Unfortunately, there's been a lot of non-football related chatter surrounding the game.

Whether it's the nonstop Taylor Swift coverage, Mahomes' dad allegedly getting a third DUI, Brittany Mahomes being insufferable or something else, football appears to be on the back-burner at times.

Is Patrick Mahomes a villain?

The Chiefs star also seems to think people don't like him and that he might have to embrace being a villain, something nobody is asking or pressing for.

Mahomes said the following Monday when asked if the team is now the league's villain (via Sports Illustrated):

"I can definitely sense it. I never felt like that because I’ve never been like that in my entire life. But it’s become a little bit funny. I don’t want to say you enjoy it. I know the Patriots had that for a while. I’m hoping we do it in a different way with a little bit more fun and personality with it. But as long as you keep winning, teams start to not like you, and I want to keep winning. So if that means some of the other teams and other fan bases aren’t going to like me, I’ll try to still have a smile on my face and not be a bad example, but I can be that villain for them if they need me to be."

Sigh. Why, Patrick? Why? Nobody thinks Patrick Mahomes is a villain. Not a single serious NFL fan I know believes that. In fact, the narrative is the exact opposite.

The narrative surrounding Patrick Mahomes is that he might be the most talented QB in league history, but he's surrounded by people who bring negative attention.

His wife - Brittany - loves playing the victim card and his brother Jackson is truly unbearable.

I've never once heard someone think Mahomes or the Chiefs are the league's villain. Maybe a team that is hated? Sure. A team people want to watch lose because of the circus attached to it? Without a doubt.

A villain? Not even a little bit. Plus, have you ever heard Patrick Mahomes' voice? Does it sound like Bane or the Joker to you? No. The idea anyone would view him as a villain is comical.

Villains have to inspire fear. It has to be believable they're bad guys. Patrick Mahomes is as vanilla and soft as they come.

Drop the villain shtick and just focus on playing football. It's worked out well so far, and could work out again Sunday for his third ring.
