The Paris Olympics Beach Volleyball Court Is Stunning, Sits In Shadow Of Eiffel Tower

Social media influencers are going to go nuts over beach volleyball at the Paris Olympics — because it might be the most photograph-able sports stadium anyone's ever seen.

A video posted to the official Paris 2024 Twitter / X account on Thursday revealed the freshly built arena, which sits directly in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower on the Champ de Mars. Because who needs a beach when you can just build one under one of the world's most famous historical landmarks?

"We were at the beach volleyball site, and the sand is there! We count the grains before the big day," the post read — assuming Google translated correctly. Pardon my lack of French.

Eiffel Tower Stadium (clever name) seats 12,860 fans, and if you're lucky enough to attend a beach volleyball event, you're going to want to snag a seat on the left side of the stadium for optimal views of the tower.

With two weeks until the Opening Ceremonies, beach volleyball has already been making headlines. In a remarkable feel-good story, one of the athletes representing Team USA is Chase Budinger, who transitioned to professional volleyball after playing seven seasons in the NBA. And on the other end of the spectrum, The Netherlands made national news after it was announced they would be sending a monster named Steven van de Velde, who was previously convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl.

Hopefully, all 12,860 fans collectively boo that guy out of Eiffel Tower Stadium.

Beach volleyball prelims begin on July 27. That will kick off a two-week stretch that will culminate with the men’s gold medal match on Aug. 10.
