Pacific MBB Has An All-Time Terrible First Half, Scoring Nine Points (!) Against Pepperdine
All Roar, No Bite.
It's time for the Pacific Tigers to go home and be family men.
Pacific men's basketball put up an all-time stinker of a first-half performance on Thursday at the West Coast Conference Tournament, facing off against Pepperdine. The Tigers were outscored 58-9 at the half.
Imagine that, heading into the break facing a 49-point deficit … at that point, you probably pull a Vontae Davis and wave the white flag.
And if you thought nine points in a half was the worst of it, consider the number of bricks Pacific had to shoot to fall so d*mn short of appearing like a normal basketball team. Two Pacific starters combined for four points and the Tigers as a team (or an "ambush") were out-scored by three of Pepperdine's starters.
In the first half, Pacific went 3 of 28 from the field, shooting an astounding 10.7 percent.
WATCH, if you dare:
The Tigers were out-rebounded, 24-12, and put up 10 turnovers compared to Pepperdine's three.
Pacific could hardly put it together from the charity stripe, making 2-of-4 free-throw attempts while Pepperdine made 7-of-8.
It's been an awful year for Pacific, which canned / "reassigned" head coach Leonard Perry on Monday after leading the Tigers to zero conference wins this year.
Perry went 29-65 as Pacific's coach the past three seasons; he was replaced by associate coach Josh Newman.
OutKick founder Clay Travis reacted to the baffling first half by the Tigers.
"I'd pay to hear this halftime speech," Travis posted.
You'd need a speech co-written by David Goggins and Paulie from "Rocky" to pull these Tigers out of their hole … there's always next season!
