Former Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace Says He Was 'So High On Pain Pills' During 2014 Egg Bowl Win
Former Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace was left off of a best-of list created by a Rebels fan account. Typically, that sort of thing wouldn't garner any attention from a former star athlete, but not only did Wallace make a comment about the list, he understandably went to bat for himself and in the process revealed a secret the former Ole Miss staff probably didn't want to be revealed.
When it comes to Ole Miss quarterbacks, both Archie and Eli Manning are in leagues of their own when it comes to popularity and superstardom in Oxford. In recent years, however, the Rebels have had a strong run of signal callers, including Chad Kelly, Matt Corral, and Jaxson Dart, which has turned Wallace into a bit of a forgotten man despite putting up big-time numbers during his three years under center.

Wallace threw for over 9,500 yards and found the end zone 81 times as the starting quarterback at Ole Miss and led the Rebels to their biggest win in modern history when they took down Nick Saban and Alabama in October 2014. To put it lightly, Wallace very much helped kickstart the Ole Miss football program back into gear and was a significant stepping stone in starting the consistent engine the team has become today.
All he asks is for a little bit of respect.
Wallace played through significant shoulder and ankle injuries during that 2014 campaign, so he believes he should get a nod for being among the toughest quarterbacks in school history.
While Ole Miss' win over Alabama in 2014 is the one everyone circles from that season, looking past the win over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl to close out that season was about as gutsy as it gets. That was a Bulldogs squad who was ranked No. 1 in the first-ever College Football Playoff rankings in late October, and Wallace led his team to win over that Dak Prescott-led bunch in Oxford a month later.
And he apparently did so while high as a kite.
"Y’all know I couldn’t grow facial hair until I was being shot up with steroids during the week to practice and cortisol before the game… I was so high on pain pills 14′ Ms state game the whole stadium was swaying before the kick off," Wallace said in a since-deleted post, according to BroBible.
While Wallace did elect to delete the post on X, formerly Twitter, you have to respect him for saying the quiet part out loud. You certainly can't knock the guy for being honest, and you have to tip your cap to him for pulling off everything he did during that nine-win season in 2014.
