Oklahoma AD Takes Savage Shot At Lincoln Riley: VIDEO

Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione woke up and chose verbal violence against Lincoln Riley.

Riley bolted from the Sooners to coach the USC Trojans, and he's been dogged by the perception he has no interest in playing SEC competition.

The Trojans reportedly failed to cancel the team's game this season against LSU, and the program was successful in killing a series against Ole Miss.

Whether Riley is actually scared of the SEC or not remains unknown, but it certainly appears that way.

Oklahoma AD takes shot at Lincoln Riley.

Well, judging from a snappy remark from Castiglione, Riley is, indeed, scared of playing SEC teams. The Oklahoma AD was addressing joining the SEC when he said, "I will tell you, without reservation, every coach that we talked to was excited. And you know what? The ones that weren’t aren’t here anymore."

Everyone on set of the SEC Network started chuckling because the implication was clear: Castiglione was opening fire on Riley.

That's the definition of a savage remark, and it's made better by the fact Castiglione didn't even need to mention Riley's name for everyone to know who he was talking about.

That was 100% a shot at the former Sooners coach. I'm not sure how anyone could see it differently. Riley cut bait and sprinted to USC. There's no doubt he probably thought it would be an easier path to the CFP.

The situation gets infinitely funnier once you factor in that USC then decided to join the Big Ten. Riley wanted an easier path with the Trojans, and ended up in one of the only two true power conferences.

Fate sure is a funny thing.

We'll see how Riley does in year three with the Trojans, but it doesn't seem like Oklahoma misses him. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
