Niece Of Browns' WR David Bell Born Inside Lucas Oil Stadium During Cleveland's Win Over Colts
David Bell may not have caught a pass during the Browns' 39-38 win over the Colts on Sunday, but it was still quite the memorable day for the Cleveland wide receiver. Not only was it a homecoming for the Indianapolis product who played college football at Purdue, but one of his relatives gave birth to his niece inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
Talk about a football game that had a bit of everything. Not only was it an extremely high-scoring affair that saw the Browns score the winning touchdown with 15 seconds left, but a new life began at the home of the Colts.
Bell heard about the birth of his new niece after the game and explained that the whole idea was for the baby to be born before the game, but that plan didn't exactly come to fruition.
“It’s a blessing, so her whole idea was to try to have the baby before the game, but it’s all in God’s timing, so now I have a new niece so hopefully I get to see her when I come back to the city," Bell told WLFI.
Baby Born At Browns - Colts Game Shortly After Kickoff
Bell's mom, Kareem Butler, gave a bit more detail about the birth, which happened at 1:20 that afternoon, just about 20 minutes after the 1:00 kickoff.
“Our niece was born here in the stadium today,” Butler told Sports 18's Kelly Hallinan. “Our niece went into labor and they delivered her at 1:20. So it’s a really exciting day today.”
Butler explained that the mother had a due date of October 26th, but went into labor as the group of friends and family were crossing the street just outside the stadium. They went straight to first aid only to find that the baby was already crowning and was delivered minutes later.
Now that is quite an entrance into the world.
